Other members of PLGMEA delegation included Fawad Ijaz Khan, Atif Ashraf, M. Khurshid Ahmed, Shahid Malik, Faisal Gangat and Syed Shujaat Ali. Additional Collector Behan Ali Sher and STR Zaidi also attended the meeting.
According to a press release issued here on Thursday Rashid Arshad apprised the collector that sales tax refund of PLGMEA members worth millions are stuck up with department. The exporters of leather garments need funds prior to Eid-ul-Azha for purchasing hides and skins. Refunds of these exporters are stuck up with sales tax collectorate since December 2004. He gave the list of outstanding sales tax refund claims of PLGMEA members.
Additional collector clarified that those exporters who have consumed and exported till September 30, 2005 their stocks purchased prior to June 06, 2005, whose previous refund claim on stocks has been adjusted and whose relevant documents have been verified will be allowed refund of sales tax. Exporters who fulfill these conditions should submit a statement of stock consumption to get the refund.
Rashid stated that these exporters have consumed and exported till September 20, 2005 most of stock purchased prior to June 06, 2005.
Additional collector assured that such exporters should submit necessary documents for getting prompt release of refund within one week.
He directed the additional collectors to provide updated status of the outstanding refund claims list submitted by PLGMEA and to urgently release refund where all necessary requirements have been fulfilled.
In the end Rashid thanked Ghulam Ahmed Collector Sales Tax and both the additional collectors for taking time out of their busy schedule to listen to sales tax refund problems of PLGMEA.
